Silcock's Brothers

All four sons of Edward Silcock Snr went into the same business of their father. The Silcock Brothers (Lawrence, Edward, Herbert and Arthur) started travelling just before the First World War and they became a popular attraction at the many towns they visited through out the North West.

The family really made their name, however, at Warrington Potato Market, operating a number of successful ‘Holiday at Home’ fairs during the War, at which the rides and attractions operated under ‘blackout’ covers. From then on, Silcock’s and Warrington have become intrinsically linked.

They also operated the Easter Fair at Daisy Nook in Failsworth, Greater Manchester that was captured in LS Lowry's famous painting 'Good Friday, Daisy Nook'
